Inspiration for the ring

Perissa Beach, on the southeast coast of Santorini, Greece, is one of the most striking and memorable beaches in the Aegean. The most eye‑catching feature is its sand: fine, dark black/grey volcanic sand (mixed a little with small pebbles here and there) which gives a dramatic contrast with the blue waters of the sea. It’s a lasting reminder of Santorini’s volcanic origins. The mountain of Mesa Vouno looms above the beach, and Ancient Thira is perched up there. That gives a dramatic geology and a sense of place — you’re not just by the water, you’re between sea and volcanic landscape.
