Inspiration for the ring

Reynisfjara Beach in southern Iceland is one of those places that feels both raw and mystical — not your typical “sun-sand-sea” beach, yet remarkable in its own way. With its dramatic landscapes, geology, contrast, and nature that looks almost sculpted, Reynisfjara delivers very strongly. The sand is jet-black, made from volcanic basalt, ash, and eroded lava.

That inky colour set against the white foam of crashing Atlantic waves, and backed by cliffs and basalt formations, creates a dramatic visual contrast. Just off the shore there are tall jagged rock formations rising from the sea: the Reynisdrangar stacks. They add a dramatic focal point out at sea: silhouettes against the sky, especially in low light, often shrouded by mist or framed by storm clouds.
